This class is an on-going study of music in video games and film.
We will study various video games and animated movies selected by the class and examine how the music helps in relaying the mood of the story of the visual images. Through observation, listening, and critical thinking, we will break down how different musical themes add to the viewer and player experience. Students will be encouraged to create both individual and collaborative projects tailored to their current interests, and share their processes with each other. We will use platforms like Soundtrap and Noteflight to compose music for a short film and/or video game. No previous instrumental experience is needed!
