I run a youth group, and today I took 4 of my teenagers here for an event. 3 of them had taken belaying classes before, and were kind enough to take some time and teach the 4th person, so they paired off.
When I came in, I was magically struck by the inability to speak in complete sentences, but the person behind the desk was really patient with me and not in any way phased (despite the fact that I appeared to be mentally challenged).
I was able to just sit down on some (very uncomfortable) metal bleachers to keep an eye on my teens. The place is gigantic but designed in a way that is parent-friendly, because you can see almost everything going on with the rock walls from one place. There are people there of all ages.
This places seems like it would be Hipster Mecca. Not only does it have a belaying area and a bouldering area, but it comes complete with a gym and yoga classes. You'd think you could feel the pretentious energy zipping through the air. But you'd think wrong! Everyone here had a really positive, laid-back vibe. I didn't smell one single iota of hipster condescension.
My kids and I both had a great time here. It's affordable and you feel good while you're here. The atmosphere breeds a sense of companionship and teamwork. I can't wait to bring my kids again. :)
