Do you love Pokemon? Do you want to create your own Pokemon? Join this class.
In the first class, you will be introduced to 3D design and 3D printing. You will 3D design using the free online tool TinkerCAD where in real-time, your teacher can assist with your design. You do not need to download anything or create a profile. A profile will be created for you. Do NOT need a 3D printer. You can view the teacher's 3D printer remotely. Your first lesson will be creating a Pokeball using basics shapes.
In the second class, you and your classmates (class vote) will choose a design and then design it. You can choose from any of the first form starter Pokemon, including Pikachu and Eevee. Using basics shapes, your teacher will guide you step by step on how to design your Pokemon.
In the third class, you will complete the designs from the second class if necessary. Then watch in real-time, your Pokemon comes to life. Your teacher will start the 3D printer and you will view it in the background. While the printer is running, it is your turn to pick your Pokemon to design. Didn't get your first choice? You will get that choice now. As a class, we will pick another Pokemon to design.
As your 3D designs skill evolve, so does your selection of Pokemon to design.
On the 4th, 5th, you choose your Pokemon to design. Pick from any of 896 Pokemon or create your own. Your choice should be challenging enough that the design should take you at least 2 classes. As you run into trouble, the teacher will assist with your designs. Your teacher will provide design tips and tricks. You will utilize everything you learn from the first 3 weeks. Although you will designing something else from your classmates. It is important to listen to the answers, likely you may have the same questions and run into similar problems.
Class 6th, you will finish any details of your designs. Then 1 by 1 you will present your Pokemon to your classmates. You will explain what shapes you used to create your Pokemon. Your classmate will provide feedback to add to your design.
Our goal is simple: we want to cultivate the next generation of engineers by introducing them to 3D design and 3D printing while teaching fundamental engineering concepts in a fun and relatable way! Come join us for a hands-on learning adventure that will bring unique challenges and push your innovation skills!
What is 3D Printing?
3D Printing or additive manufacturing (as it is known in the industry) is the construction of three-dimensional objects from a CAD model or a digital 3D model. Join us for an enriching and fun learning session to understand the basics of 3D printing and get an introduction to engineering!
How do I start?
Upon request, we can print and ship the finished 3D item to you. We have an option for a wide range of ages to join the course as our goal is to provide 3D printing knowledge/access to all ages, skills, and education levels. With that said, when we break into working groups, we will group students through a variety of factors including age, interest, proficiency, etc. We aim to ensure that students are progressing consistently as they move forward with classes (if they choose to do so). 1:6 teacher to student ratio.
