About
Devine Dancers

Providing professional training in the art and athleticism of dance for people of all ages and abilities. Devine Dancers is a Des Moines dance studio and opened its doors on June 1st, 2009 in a tiny basement studio (853 B 42nd Street) underneath The Shops at Roosevelt. There were less than 10 students in my first summer camp – five of which I was related to (yikes!). Relief set in when 50 students registered for our first year of fall classes. The space quickly became too small to hold the nearly 100 students who registered in the second year. So, we moved to our current two-studio location on Ingersoll, thinking we would never outgrow that location. The third year we grew to approximately 150 students. And in just two more years we were up to 300 students. The past three years we have been at full capacity, so we are now in search of a new location where we can expand and offer more classes and options for our families. Those statistics are exciting and all, but our only goal is to share our love for the art and athleticism of dance with as many people as possible. The body can express human emotion in ways words cannot. And the arduous discipline required to execute this movement inspires me. There is no such thing as a perfect dancer…only a dancer who is always perfecting.

Antonia Mihalovich /. Devine Instructor

Ms. Antonia danced for 8 years in Des Moines when she was younger and finished her last 5 years at Devine. She graduated from Lincoln High School in the top 15% of her class and was captain and main choreographer of the Railettes Dance Team. She received two choreography awards her senior year and her contemporary number placed top 5 at State of Iowa Dance Competition 2015. She also received numerous showmanship awards at competitions while competing as a soloist and won many 1st overalls and top 10 awards while competing with the Devine team. She graduated in 2019 with her B.S. degree in Psychology from Iowa State University and plans to earn her master’s shortly after graduation. Antonia has been teaching at Devine for 3 years now and working with the team for one year as a choreographer and teacher with many of her pieces receiving high adjudications at the Regional level. Antonia couldn’t imagine her life without the dancers and the experience she has gotten from teaching. Antonia always loved being on stage but she loves teaching her dancers more than anything. She can’t wait to see what this year brings and is excited to continue her love and passion of dance as a teacher at Devine.

Amazing dance studio! The instruction far exceeds expectations. The children are not treated like numbers in a class but like family. My daughter has truly untethered her potential under their tutelage. And the camaraderie! These kids are incredible with their teamwork and support of one another, an example set by their studio owner. From my perspective, I am kind of reserved and shy with communicating in crowds but I’ve always felt welcomed and needed with this studio and the other parents.
I was never a dancer growing up so idk how rare this is, considering the whole “Dance Mom” paradigm, but seeing other’s post and discuss their predicaments, I think I can err on the caution here when I say I am fortunate indeed to have found Devine Dancers.
