Overview

PM Session: 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

THE FUN

No joy can compare to the sense of achievement your child would experience when he/she is playing the games created by himself/herself!

It is a fun and easy way for students of any age to learn the basics of programming using the Python language. Your child will be able to use their skills to develop their own Minecraft games using Python as well as other popular games, such as RPG (Role Playing Games) and even a Star Wars game!

While this summer camp is designed to accommodate students with no prior experience in programming, it continues to challenge those who are experienced to achieve the next level. Camps like this with a focus on interactivity and fun will ensure your child will become confident in programming or technology.

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOME

  • Acquire fun fundamental computing principles such as: creating and using variables, basic arithmetic operations, conditional statements, loops, creating and using lists of variables, creating and manipulating strings, calling functions. In addition, students are introduced to the object-oriented concepts of classes and objects.

·         Exercise problem solving and creativity through assignment and examples in Minecraft games and design

·         Strengthen Math skills with concepts of integers, parenthesis, arithmetic operations, graphing, exponential functions

THE BIG PICTURE

As technology is such a big part of our daily life that coding has become an essential and fundamental skill. Besides programming skills, game design and development projects offer opportunities to innovate, encourage team, and instill persistence.

AM+PM Combo Session: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

THE FUN

This unique camp will definitely be a milestone in your child’s scientific journeys and will encourage and inspire him/her. Students will bring electronics to life with electrical engineering and automation! Students will discover how engineering and programming work together to make new and exciting inventions a reality. Building projects with different types of electric circuits and components, and doing experiments on sound, light and motion detector will be a major part of the fun.  Your child will design circuits to build actual electronics devices like paper lamb, vacuum cleaner, motor powered maze, an alarm and radio speaker. It would be hard to find a camp that can even compare to the many opportunities at this camp.

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOME

  • Acquire knowledge related to principles of circuit design and connections components, such as resistors, inductors, capacitors schematics diagrams, transfer of power.
  • Learn different electronics components in automation such as sound, light and motion detectors.
  • Build and create electronic projects of related home appliances such as vacuum cleaner, paper lamb, motor powered maze, alarm and radio speaker.

THE BIG PICTURE

Hands-on projects related to physics sparks the curiosity to find out how the world around us works. Many of our modern technologies are the results of these scientific discoveries. This journey starts with exploration and having fun but may ultimately lead to solving world problems.  On the journey, students of physics build critical thinking, scientific minds, and quantitative skills, which can be applied to all aspects of life.

(Creative Writing and Public Speaking Camp)

I have not been happy with the creative writing and public speaking camp. My kid is in 2nd grade and he went to the Cupertino location. The camp we attended was "Public speaking and Creative Writing" . The camp structure was writing and speaking session in the morning and afternoon was Art work.
I did not see any output besides one small page of writing from my son at the end of 5 days. Some presentation was emailed to the parents on the last day but it looks like not every kid got a chance to even speak anything. Since my expectation was that this class would give at least one opportunity for each kid to speak and present (after all it is called public speaking camp) I am extremely disappointed.
The extended art class more like after school hours where the kids seemed to be drawing cartoon characters with little guidance from teacher. I was earlier told she would at least teach the kids different mediums of coloring - but all the work looked the same each day.
The main reason to choose this camp was to boost my kids confidence on speaking in front of others. The teacher did teach them elements of story-telling, which is great and they did write some short one paragraph stories. But seems like he completely missed on the public speaking part. At the end of 5 days the parents were sent a video and not ONE word in that is being spoken by my son. How can a teacher boost a kids confidence if you do not give each kid an opportunity to speak in the presentation. These little things do matter. It is okay to not be chosen to speak based on merit in a real production but this was supposed to be a public speaking summer camp.

Hi Aadi, we apologize for your disappointment. We did take this to heart and find ways to improve our Public Speaking Programs. It did take a bit time for us to restructure and thus respond to you. We have changed the structure of our curriculum since then. We have since adjusted the pace of our classes and fine-tuned the levels of our public speaking programs. So since then, students have been placed carefully to the level, based on their experience and level of comfort. To address your concern that not all students were given the opportunity to present in the final presentation, I have talked to my staff that all students should be given opportunities to participate, may it be only 30 seconds or a standard 2-minute presentation. As needed, those who are not ready to give an independent presentation could take a teach-prompt option.
To compensate your inconvenience, I would be more that happy to offer a free pass for your child to participate in one of our upcoming Public Speaking Program. Schedule will be posted in a week. I am sure you will find a totally different experience and hope that you are still open to work with us. Please do reach out when you are ready and I will send you the free pass code.
