Moorland Branch YMCA

The Moorland YMCA began in 1926 making it the second oldest branch in the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas. The original location was in North Dallas at 2700 Flora Street, which is now in the Central Business District of Downtown Dallas. It was a focal point for social change in Dallas. In 1972 the branch opened its present location on ten-and-a-half acres and has grown to include extensive indoor and outdoor facilities. The Moorland YMCA community is made up of African Americans, Latinos and Caucasians. The majority of our participants are African Americans with an income of less than $25,000 per year. A large portion of single parents depend on us for child care and other youth programs. We are a hub for community activities for meetings, workshops and family reunions.
