About
CSUN Summer Academic Enrichment Program Camps
At SAEP your child's growth will be by design as we focus on academic and character development. We desire to instill and awaken a sense of hope and possibility in each student as s/he studies and learns on a California State University campus. We offer both enrichment and academic classes: our middle school students can take classes for preparation and/or for pleasure; whereas, our high school classes are approved by LAUSD for the A-G Subject Requirements necessary for UC/CSU admission and high school graduation. Thank you for examining our program. We look forward to your child's participation in SAEP.

We had our son attend SAEP during the summer 2018. I must warn all parents considering sending their child to the SAEP program at CSUN that there is very little supervision even though they claim they do.

During the 2nd week of the program while in the classroom, a table was lifted up by another student who was enraged by her brother's taunting and it landed on my son's foot causing him to be taken to the ER. It was determined he fractured his toe and was put in a boot and needed to use crutches for the rest of the summer.

Needless to say he missed most of the SAEP program. When we asked to be reimbursed for the program, (fees $750+) they refused stating we signed a waiver. When I signed the waiver I expected them to be in a safe environment. We found it ironic that they put so much emphasis on having colored sheets to identify the kids for safety reasons but when it comes down to it, it all goes back to what you've signed.

By signing this waiver, I expected the classroom to be properly supervised, a high quality and professional staff. I also expected that a teacher would be aware of what was happening in the class to avoid these situations. My family and I were told by several students she was on her phone and not supervising the class. My son is in middle school and most of the kids in his class were 12 & 13 year olds.

I strongly suggest you consider an alternative summer school program for your child. In fact due to the injuries my son received, he could not participate in other programs we signed him up for and these organizations refunded us 100%.

Very little was offered to us. In fact the director as SAEP wanted to dismiss this injury. I hope you find my review helpful and be very careful what you sign with them. Just don't do it. Go somewhere else. To a place that you trust.
