Leapstart After School & Summer Camps

My son attended the cooking shop and was very happy with how he was able to cook for the first time! He was so proud to show off his new found skills and made the items at home for us! We were very happy that he enjoyed the week and learnt a new life skill in the process!

Our daughter has been going to Leapstart summer camp since last year. Based on our positive experience, we continued with after-care in the school year. She just attended the steam camp last week and as always she had a blast. It's a great place to keep learning new things and make new friends.

I was very disappointed by this week long summer camp. I do not think it was age appropriate for my daughter who is 4.5 years old (which is the lower end of the age range 4-12 for this camp). They did not have multiple classes based on age. There was very few kids around her age, and she did not get the attention needed for smaller kids.
On the first day, the teachers did not bother with letting us know how the day went. I had to find out from my daughter that she did not eat lunch and didn’t apply sunscreen that day out in the park. When I asked the teachers, the one in charge of lunch said if the kid says they don’t want to eat, they won’t push it. The teach did promise to keep an eye on my child the next day, and make sure she eats lunch.
Also, they seem very disorganized. On day 3, my daughter said her sun hat was lost. I checked with the teacher, who reassured me that the hat was not lost, just stuck in a van that took the kids to the park that day, but was not at the facility at the time when I picked my kid up at 3pm (which is the regular session end time). The teacher reassured me that my kid will have the hat the next day and we don’t need to bring a replacement. But when I return the next morning at 9 am, she said the hat is still stuck in the van somewhere, and I should come at noon to check! Then when I reminded her of the description of the hat, she suddenly remembered it was already in the facility! So if I didn’t stress the details, my kid would have been without her hat again, which probably would have made her very upset, and I would have made another trip at noon for no reason.
Lastly, it was not written anywhere in the summer camp page that LeapStart will drive the kids to different parks in vans. I just want to call this out, because if I knew this in advance I would have inquired more information about the trip and safety protocols. This information would have impacted my decision in choosing summer camps.

Chitra was wonderful. The camp was very well organized. Our kid had a wonderful time, she enjoyed the nature camp, all the activities and learnt a lot about nature.

Nature excursion only about an hour, easy walk to an animal enclosure, the children ran one behind the other as they walked on the main street of the park, on which cars were also driven. Most of the time the children spent in the building with painting, Lego, handicrafts and table football. A tree nursery was supposedly booked for the last day. When I asked, nobody could tell me the name of the nursery beforehand. But they went to the Home Depot's plant section and bought seeds. In my opinion, the camp had nothing to do with exploring and learning about nature. We feel betrayed.

My kid had a great week at Leapstart after school nature camp. The teachers were very caring. He did a lot of activities and had fun with friends. We had a lot of questions and Chitra very patiently answered everything and made us feel comfortable. I highly recommend their summer camp.

My daughter had so much fun in this camp . They did so many nice things , cute art projects , hikes and the teachers were all felt like moms for them . Very caring and protective. Totally recommended. Thanks a lot Chitra and the rest of the teachers for creating such a sweet memory for my daughter.
