About
Stanford Jazz Workshop
The Stanford Jazz Workshop summer jazz immersion programs are held on the beautiful campus of Stanford University, and are taught by the world’s great jazz performers and educators. Jazz Camp and the Jazz Institute for Youth are integrated into the Stanford Jazz Festival, so attendees get to hear top-quality jazz performances each evening, and study with the artists during the day. Special attention is given to each Jazz Camp participant to make certain all students are in the optimal level of jazz theory, musicianship, and jazz combo. At Jazz Camp and Jazz Institute, students can stay in the comfortable and convenient Stanford dorms, so their jazz experience begins when they wake up, and doesn't end until they go to sleep! SJW offers three jazz immersion opportunities for young players: Jazz Day Camp for middle school students aged 11 - 13, Jazz Camp (a residential program for ages 12 - 17), and Jazz Institute for Youth, which puts advanced young players 17 years old or younger together with some of the greatest jazz musicians in the world, focusing on improv skills and combo performance. Cost is $895 - $2145 per week, depending on program and housing choices. Jazz Day Camp, July 15 - 19 Jazz Camp Week 1, July 21 - 26 Jazz Camp Week 2, July 28 - August 2 Jazz Institue for Youth, August 4 - 9, 2013
