Overview

Student-Teacher Ratio 10:1

Starting this summer (week of August 5th), Bay Area Mock Trial Prep is holding a summer program to help prepare students who are interested in mock trial. Geared toward incoming 9th graders but open to all high school students, the Bay Area Mock Trial Prep Summer Program is designed to prepare students for the mock trial season, giving them experience in all trial roles and procedures to ready them for team tryouts and competitions during the school year. This summer program will provide an introduction to mock trial and will familiarize students with the study of law, the American justice system and effective trial advocacy techniques. No prior mock trial or public speaking experience is necessary.

From the adrenaline rush of competitions to the laughs in the practice-room, Mock Trial is a great experience for anyone -- writers, artists, actors, you name it! It is, of course, great for anyone interested in becoming a litigator in the future, but can be fun for anyone, not just attorneys-in-training! Mock Trial is a competitive activity in which students simulate a trial around a specific case. Competing against other schools, these students fill in the roles of attorneys and various witnesses to put together a compelling legal argument to win over the judge and/or jury. However, students are scored on ability and performance, not whether or not they win the case.
