Berkeley Coding Academy does not have upcoming sessions on ActivityHero right now. We can send you an email when they do.
Berkeley Coding Academy is a virtual home for teens interested in Python, Data Science, Machine Learning, and AI. Our original data science curriculum, developed by veteran math and programming teacher Corey Wade, is one of the only data science curriculums in the world designed for a teenage audience.
At BCA, students who have never coded before build and score machine learning models. Experienced programmers become facile at manipulating big data. Everyone creates colorful, beautiful, informative graphs. BCA students receive a tremendous foundation in the Python code that is needed to create AI.
Berkeley Coding Academy is created by teachers for students. Our online educational platform includes interactive lectures with live notebooks, and small cohorts for projects and problem solving. BCA students learn from their peers, chat support, assistant instructors, cohort leads, and program director Corey Wade. At BCA, we are united by code.
Corey Wade -Founder, Director - MS Mathematics, MFA Writing & Consciousness, has taught math and programming in the Berkeley Unified School District for 16 years. Corey developed Berkeley Coding Academy to bring Python, Data Science, Machine Learning, and AI to a wider, younger audience. At BCA, Corey organizes behind the scenes, develops content, and delivers interactive lectures. During the school year, Corey chairs the Math Department at Berkeley Independent Study where he teaches Computer Programming, Advanced Math, AP Statistics, AP Calculus, and Home & Hospital Instruction. Corey has published iPhone apps with students, designed classes to build websites, and run after-school coding programs to support girls and underserved students. A Springboard graduate, Corey has worked in industry developing data science curricula for Pathstream and Hello World while contributing articles on Medium with Towards Data Science. A multiple grant award winner, and author of the The Python Workshop (2019) and Hands-on Gradient Boosting with XGBoost and scikit-learn (2020), Corey’s passion in education comes from teaching advanced technical concepts to empower teens.
