Camp Niwana does not have upcoming sessions on ActivityHero right now. We can send you an email when they do.
Kids have been spending their summers at Camp Niwana for over 65 years. Camp Niwana is a Camp Fire camp for kids ages K-12th grade. Camp Niwana promotes youth development through environmental education and having fun outdoors. Kids learn new skills through fun filled activities as they develop self-confidence and develop lifelong friendships. We completely renovated the Olympic size swimming pool this year. It is all new and fabulous for campers to learn how to swim, learn safety essentials and water safety skills, as well as have many happy hours of just fun in the sun swim time. Campers have daily Red Cross swim classes. Other activities at CampNiwana include canoe trips down Village Creek, archery, riflery, crafts, boating, fishing, dance, sign language, drama class, and much more.
Our staff is hand picked and mostly young adults 18 and older who have a love of the outdoors and want to share that with campers. Some of our staff have spent their summers at Camp Niwana as kids. The staff spends a full week at camp in training before any campers arrive. During that week they are trained in risk management, first aide and CPR, and new life guards are certified. They work on lesson plans for the different program areas they will be teaching and they clean and fix any issues so the camp is in great shape by the time the campers come. Background checks are run and references are checked on every staff member in camp. Camp Niwana is licensed and governed by the Texas Department of Health Youth Camp Rules.
