- The first member of the Gracie family to teach Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in the United States
- Considered to be the most technical of the Gracie fighters
- Last of the Gracie fighters to be personally trained and coached by Carlos Gracie, the creator of the Gracie style of Jiu-Jitsu.
