Overview
Fundamentals of Programming - Scratch, C++, Arduino

Stella, our “crack” programmer teacher, is really looking forward to seeing lots of girls in this camp!

You will first explore the renowned educational and visual Scratch programming language to become familiar with the power and abilities of computer science by making your own games and animations. Later, you will move on to learn C++ and learn good fundamental programming practices, including modular programming, distinguishing between variables and declarations, and utilizing global variables. You will get to explore these concepts further through a physical presentation of programming with Arduino. Programming is changing the world! Start now.

Led by Stella Seo. Stella is a bio-engineering student at UC Berkeley. She founded and directed a robotics outreach program for underrepresented youth. Our son loved this camp, and asked to do more baking camps over the summer. He enjoyed the baking, said the counselors were nice, and loved playing with the camp dog.

My 7 year old daughter (incoming 2nd grader) loved the camp. It seemed that each day they would hang out at the main building for a short bit before walking/busing to a different marine-related location in the city each day. They’d explore the area, learn some facts, eat lunch, and maybe dip their feet in the water or enjoy a nearby playground. Then they’d bus/walk back to arrive by 4:00. For my daughter’s session, they went to 1) Tunnel Tops playground/Crissy Field, 2) The California Academy of Sciences, 3) Pier 39 to see the sea lions, 4) Ocean Beach, and 5) Baker Beach. On day three, they also went to a different location to see a dog fish.

She wasn’t looking forward to the camp as it was a last minute add, but she had a really good time and was really glad she went. She also did aftercare and enjoyed the kind and fun counselors. She’s asking to do the metal working session when she’s old enough.

My daughter thought this class was fun and loved creating the jewelry. She thought the instructor was very knowledgeable and did a great job with everyone in the group.
