Overview

Taught by a professional instructor, award-winning writer, director, comedian Joe Janes.

Remember the dramatic entrance by Willy Wonka in “Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory”? Everyone does and here’s the best part…it was improvised! That’s right, NOT in the script! The best actors are great at improv. Reacting and responding in the moment is a skill worth learning in order to become a great actor.

You will learn how to do improv in five fun and exciting classes. We learn through games, group exercises, and practical application. In the last class, we perform scripted scenes, multiple times, with different scenarios, relationships and locations each time!

Students will leave this class with less self-consciousness, more skill as a team player, and more ready to creatively handle the unexpected.

You Will Learn :

  • What Improv is and why it is important for actors to study
  • What “Yes, and…” means and how to be a good team player
  • How to “think on your feet,” “act from your impulses,” and be creative in the moment
  • What “listening with all of the senses” means and why it is important to truthful acting
  • What Given/Imaginary Circumstances are and why actors must act “under the given circumstances”
