We spend about 2/3 the time on learning skills and agility training and the final 1/3 on 1v1 and soccer match. If you want more soccer match time consider joining our Saturday Rec league. -
Just curious - how do you structure classes with such a wide age-range? I have a 4-year-old and an almost-8-year-old, and I would be interested in signing them both up at the same time, but they are obviously at very different skill levels, so just curious how that works? Thanks in advance! (Coach Ken Soccer at Santa Rita)

Kids are separated by age and level into groups of 8-10 players with their own coach(es) so they can be coaches at their level. -
Do you have many kids around 12 year old attend? I have a 12 year Recreational level son interested but he definitely prefers to be around kids his age. thanks. (Coach Ken Soccer Camps)

Yes we do. In our Sunday 10:30 am-12 pm program, we have lots of kids that age, including two 14 year olds. We’re growing the numbers of this 12-15 year old group going forward. -

I want my 6-year old daughter to participate in spring break camp (who plays soccer for the first time). Will she be able to enjoy the program? I wonder how much girls of this age usually participate. (Coach Ken Soccer Camps)

Thank you for considering us. Our program is enjoyed by all levels, including beginners. This is because players are separated by both age and level, so she’ll end up with another 5-9 kids her level because we set up groups of 6-10 kids. We do get girls her age and all ages. So she won’t be the only girl. -
Where do campers rest between 1:00 and 2:00 pm? (Coach Ken Soccer Camps)

In the location. Sometimes right on the field or in the facility say the club house at Cubberly or the tent at Almond. These facilities are in the location. We don’t move kids from one location to another except when we are Cubberly and take younger kids to the play structures at Greendell, which is next to Cubberly and it shares same front entrance with Cubberly even. -
Do we need to buy/bring crate shoes? (Coach Ken Soccer Camps)

Not really. Cleats only help if kids are over 60lbs. Otherwise any closed toe athletic shoes with good tread (traction) are fine. Kids over 60lbs can however slip especially if fields are wet. Cleats also give players mental advantage. It makes them feel like soccer players. Plus they’re cute:) You can buy cleats and other soccer equipment at the Soccer Pro in San Jose and the Prosoccer in San Carlos soccer stores that will give you a little discount if you say we referred them to you. -
For winter Dec/Jan camps, is it entirely outdoors the whole time or do they get indoor time / breaks? Seems a bit cold to be outside for 8 hours especially in the morning. (Coach Ken Soccer Camps)

All our our programs are outdoors unless stated otherwise. We can however take shelter and use indoor facilities say like the Palo Alto House club house or school Multipurpose Rooms in case of sudden inclement weather during soccer. -

Some schools allow us to let players who do not attend the school to sign up. Others like St Nicholas and Cherry Chase schools do not allow players who do not attend the school to sign up for our Afterschool activities there. In such cases, we recommend you join our Palo Alto YDP and city of Los Altos programs which allow all players to sign up irrespective of the schools or cities of residence. The City of Los Altos however charges 20% non residence fees to all who are not residents of Los Altos. Palo Alto YDP programs do not charge non residence fees. -

We have snack break from 11 am-11:30 am. So we encourage players to have a good breakfast. Players who bring lunch can have it at 1 pm, after camp. -
1 session is equivalent to 2 days per week. So the cost per week is $100. The cost per month will be $400-$500?. Please let me know if my assumption is correct or not. Thank you. (Coach Ken Soccer)

Since this is a Monday-Friday camp, you sign up one week at a time. For example, you sign up separately for the 1-5 days you want for week of October 5, 12, 19 and 26. -
Is this camp a good fit for a 6 years old new to soccer? We sent him to a weekly one hour class last year and he didn't like it because there was not enough focus to engage beginner and the sessions seem to be most spent on scrimmage which he did not enjoy as an absolute beginner. So I am not sure if the 4 hour session is too much for him. (Spring Break Soccer Camp)

Yes it is. We spend 9-11 am of camp time on skills. Please let me know who was the coach. Our classes should spend at least 60-70% time on skills and 30-40% on 1v1 and matches, so whoever was coaching was not following our program. Rec League is the opposite. We do 20-30% skills then scrimmage the rest of the time. We however advertise Rec League as such-- it's a recreational league for kids to learn to play in teams, not a class. -
