Code Ninjas (Rolling Hills Estates, CA)

I believe the staff in CodeNinjas put a lot of good work and talent in this institute, however this class is not ideal for a second or third grader. Maybe older kids have a better experience in this coding class. Based on our observation the manual that they give to the kids in the classroom is prepared for older students and not specifically for 8 or 9 years old ones. My son is in third grade and he had started his class with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. After one and a half week (3 sessions), he didn't want to participate in the sessions at all. I put a lot of energy to persuade him to finish that one month and unfortunately it has a very bad effect for his perception about coding. The main reason was that the lesson plans are mostly independent work based on the mentioned manual. I was expecting more fun and excitement for teaching in this specific age group, otherwise there are tons of great coding books out there that you can buy for $20-$30 and give it to your kid for independent learning. I think the main purpose of these kind of training is motivating learners and creating a fun and enjoyable learning experience. Unfortunately these topics are not included in a normal lesson plan here.

My sons have been attending Code Ninjas for 2 years and love it! They are able to discuss coding concepts with their father, who makes video games. All the senseis are kind, patient, and knowledgeable!
