Discover Science Center

It was really great! We had 4 girls from our troop together and were able to assist the smaller one. There were 2 items that were called for that weren’t on the list of supplies: marker and scissors—so we had to scramble for them at the end. We made it work and have no real complaints!

My daughter has really enjoyed the classes she’s taken over the past couple of weeks through Activity Hero! She has a big love for all ocean creatures, and these classes have been both engaging and fun for her. The instructors do a great job keeping kids interested and excited to learn more. We’re so happy to have found something that fuels her curiosity and passion.

It was great! My daughter loves these classes. She really enjoyed the shark class. The girls were very informative and engaging. It's getting more difficult to find online classes for older girl scouts. So we try to attend when we see them.

Wonderful program, we also really love the after school program, and this was the first time we’ve done the summer camp. Our kiddo loved Ocean Science! My only issue is the start time at 8:30 (vs 8:00 for others we do) makes it really hard to do this.

My son thoroughly enjoyed every class in the marine science series. He learned a lot and was excited to tell me all about it after pick up. I would definitely recommend DSC as a supplement to homeschool education.

My 7yo loved learning about the parts of a plant and how plants make food. The instructor was engaging and patient with the kids.

My daughter is a Brownie and really enjoyed this session! She said the instructor is “really nice”.

As a parent, I think the instructor was very thorough, listened thoughtfully to all the kids in attendance, knew the subject very well, and made the presentation easy to follow along for the different age levels.

My daughter has been sending out digital “cards” for Valentine’s and the Puppy Bowl & is so excited to try more coding from here.

The educational team at Discover Science Center really knows how to teach kids and keep them engaged. My daughter loves all of the science camps and wakes up excited every morning. We booked 5 this year and she loves everything about them!

My son liked going to camp, I just don't think he learned anything much related to forensic science. He said they did some experiments of the first day, a review on the last day. The camp was only 3 days. A little overpriced for what they seem to offer. No outdoor time, even when it did not rain, they were allowed to bring an electronic device for their off time. The after care service is a lady sitting on the chair and your child just waiting to be picked up.

Very nice staffs and he really enjoyed. Definitely recommend this place, especially your child loves the nature and science.

I am 14 and have done other classes virtually that I enjoyed so I do plan to attend others and would recommend to my friends. However, the Science of Jewelry class wasn’t good due to the following:
1. Unclear instructions
2. Impatient instructor
3. Technology issues
4. Instructor asked questions but didn’t like our answers

My daughters thoroughly enjoyed this Program and would love to do more like it. However, we're extremely disappointed that we were charged seperate Shipping & Handling charges for their boxes, yet the 2 boxes arrived together in the same lightweight package. There's no way it cost $20 to ship these EXTREMELY light boxes. Despite the Program's merit, we will likely NOT continue on with future programs like it due to the Shipping & Handling rip-off. There are much more affordable, worthwhile options available elsewhere.

My daughter enjoyed the Science of the Senses badge activity. She loved making the brain hat and guessing the scents in the little containers. The materials sent by Discover Science Center arrived in plenty of time and included all the necessary materials. Will definitely sign up for other activities through them.

We had an awesome time. Event was scheduled during a birthday party of Adyson Willis, a fellow Daisy. Such fun watching the girls focus, work together, and the bonding that will hopefully carry into later years. (Smile)

I would highly recommend this workshop! The Engineering Challenge for our Brownie troop was wonderful. The girls learned a lot and did a lot of fun hands on activities. What made it even more special was the facilitator Candra (sp) She was positive, calm, , listened, and accepted everyone.

I have 2 boys aged 8 and 10 . We just started this class and the boys have loved it. It’s very hands on and fun in their words. They get in the car and talk 90 to nothing about the cool things they did. I love seeing my boys happy and learning!

My brownie Girl Scouts really enjoyed this activity. I found it to be pricy($87 for 3 girls to participate) but, the girls we’re learning and very excited to participate.

This camp was not all that was described. My child indicated that they just "played with legos all day long." So basically child care with legos.

I had fun and want to do more. I liked the coding basics and can't wait for the game design!!

It was excellent! My daughter loved learning how to code.

Miss Tina led an excellent session for "Measuring with Leaves" which our Daisy really enjoyed! The activities included in the session were age appropriate and INTERESTING for our Daisy. When my daughter had a question about a concept which Miss Tina had described - but my Daisy hadn't caught the first time - Miss Tina did a great job re-explaining/re-wording in a way that my daughter could understand. A fun activity with relevant scientific principles described in an age appropriate way. Thank-you so much, Miss Tina!!

Ms. Coral was excellent! I learned a lot myself from the session. I could see that all the students were engaged. My son is autistic though and has an attention span of just 30 minutes. I would be very pleased if shorter sessions were offered.

Excellent class! The time went really fast and kept my daughter's interest the entire time.

Would have loved to have a print out of the syllabus or some form of communication with parent showing greater depth of what was being taught. At the end of the class, my child could not tell me much about what had been discussed beyond, “We talked about rocks.”

Communication with the instruction was excellent, but it seemed a little complicated or maybe too advanced for my daughter who doesn’t have much computer experience. She has fun once everything came together but trying to introduce programming at the same time was a little beyond many of the girls who had to constantly ask help from their parents.

Such a fun class. It was a little on the hard side. My daughter needed me to be next to her just because it was so new. The end result was so exciting and my daughter can't wait to try more on her own.

This field trip was amazing. My kiddo had lots of fun and can't wait to do another one. I will definitely keep looking at this site for more fun activities for her to do. Too much fun was had to snag a photo.

I signed up both of my girls for a week of Nature Science camp and they really enjoyed it. The instructors did well with moving along the conversation, which can be a challenge with remote learners at times. They all also checked in with each learner. I appreciated getting most of the supplies in the box. My only comment would be that there was an envelope called "dissection kit" on the label, but I think on the sheet it was called "science kit". The instructions mentioned to obtain this "from home" and there was a note on the paper what a "science kit" was, but we didn't realize that this envelope WAS the science kit until we opened it for the owl pellet dissection on the last day. In any event, everything was smooth and my girls really enjoyed learning something different every day.

The first three days were pretty good. The last couple, they were just listening and watching things on the computer for the most part. Would have liked them to have had substantial hands-on activities every day of the week.

The instructor was great. It was informative and fun and the girls were engaged.

My daughter Annabelle is a first year Daisy. She was excited to work on her space badge. She had a great time and learned some new things. The activities were fun and engaging. The leader did a great job having the girls ask and answer questions. We will definitely recommend the online programs to others.

Very interesting. We learned so much within this hour. The rocks were nice on the outside and one took long to break. When they broke they were so cute inside.

Another Great Zoom class with Discovery Science Center. Our brownie GS troop had enjoyed a few and this one was GREAT!! (From the girls). Thank you for these programs, it allows the girls to see so many new topics and give them an opportunity to explore possible new careers.

I have recommended the Discover Science Center to many friends. Of all the online programs my 7-8-year-old child has done, this has been the best. Excellent teachers , real engaging activities, friendly community. One night I work up to discover my kid continuing to dissect the day’s owl pellet!

My 9yo boy really enjoyed this class. He got to mix his own creativity into the robot coding and had lots of fun at the same time. He loved his teacher and staff. He has attended a few different classes here, and they are always engaging and fun. We always recommend the Discover Science Center to people who ask.

My GS troop really enjoyed learning how to code line by line with Ms. Tina! She was patient, went slow so they could follow, and tried to get input from them at different points. She did the basic code and then showed them how they could switch it up to make the card "their own." Several of them showed me their cards the next day at school! Thanks Ms. Tina!

My GS loves these VL sessions! I love that I can keep her active with GS all the while keeping her home safe. She enjoys the teacher and activists!

My daughter absolutely love these labs. With this pandemic, it wasn’t enough for her to just do online schooling, which became boring to her. These STEM LABS gave her hands on activities that she truly enjoys.

The event was well organized, but I think it may have worked a bit better if there had been separate classes for the younger girls and older girls. My daughter said she'd love to see a more advanced class on sharks.

My daughter (10) has taken multiple single-day online courses to earn some girl scout fun patches as well as just have fun with science. She has loved every single class. Thanks to all the teachers for such enjoyable experiences!

It was very very fun, but it only took me 20 minutes to solve the puzzle. Once the 20 minutes were over, it was boring waiting for other people to solve the puzzle. I couldn't really help people because the instructor said we couldn't help, so I sat there for the remaining time, doing nothing.

I give Unicorn Science a 5 star rating considering it was a completely virtual event. It went smoothly for my daughter and she had a lot of fun!

The unicorn science was fun and interesting! I wish it had been divided more by age though so that the older scouts could dig a little deeper with the terms...

We have had multiple good experiences with Discover Science Center classes. My daughter always has fun and enjoys the interactions.

Highly recommended! Awesome class. My granddaughter is still tinkering with the LED lights. It has kept her engaged days later.

This was our first virtual class and it was awesome. My daughter enjoyed it very much. The teacher was engaging and she kept the kids entertained. She did a very good good job of "teaching" the material before they started the experiment.
