More than just an experienced diver-turned-coach, Coach Miranda’s holistic training philosophy is the basis for the Dive Lab model. Having roots in elite-level “podium programs” and formal training in family therapy, she has seen first hand the impacts of prioritizing athletic success over personal development in young people.
The creation of Dive Lab is the culmination of her goal to “give the world a hug through diving.” Coach Miranda’s approach and methodologies combine American, British, and Chinese training regimens, drawing on her experience training with international coaches. As a Licensed Family Therapist, her training informs her coaching style, drawing on principles of sports psychology and upholding a culture of positive reinforcement to improve the development of the whole person and enable a better future for athletes.
Coach Miranda brings more than 30 years of diving experience to Dive Lab. She was a member of the US Junior Olympic National Team, a Division I student-athlete at the University of Hawaii, and an accomplished Masters diver. She also has guided a resurgence of competitive diving in Northern California as the diving coach for three Marin high schools.
