Build An AI Enabled Robotic Arm And Mobile Robot
Become an expert at modern robotics and get hands-on experience by building your own AI enabled Robotic Arm using Arduino and Raspberry Pi, and an advanced camera-enabled Mobile Robot.
By the end of this course, each student will have built their own wifi-connected smart car controlled by a raspberry pi programmed by the students themselves. The robot arm built in Parts 1 and 2 will be mounted on top of the car to make a full mobile manipulator robot. The first two days will be used for building, the remaining three for programming and deeper concepts.
Learn about motor controllers, motor drivers to directly control motors instead of integrated servos
Soldering! Students will learn and become confident in soldering as part of building the smart car platform
Different battery types, connectors, wiring, construction techniques and where and how to buy parts
Deeper dive into Python programming for robotics
Each student will receive brand-new hardware and non-shared equipment.
Each student will receive a box of supplies upon arrival, which will be used for building and extending the robot arm. When the course is over, students are expected to take their box home for a full summer of continued enjoyment and learning.
Upon completing this session, older students are encouraged to attend the Advanced Robotics Lab program. By completing this session, and additionally attending the Build A Competition Ready Autonomous Mobile Robot session, students become eligible to compete in the Evodyne Autonomous Racing Tournament 2023.
