Fontbonne Hall Academy

Fontbonne Hall Academy, a college preparatory school for young women, founded on the gospel of Jesus Christ and inspired by the philosophy and charism of the Sisters of Saint Joseph, offers a superior educational program to form and empower women of confidence and compassion. There are many summer programs, classes and workshops offered for high school students. Programs vary in duration, cost and eligibility requirements. Some programs even offer college credit.

Biotechnology Summer Camp  (Stony Brook University): The goal in this program is to introduce motivated high school students to the techniques used in modern biotechnology research. The students will begin by learning concepts and techniques as a class but will quickly move to working in small groups or with a partner. There will be lectures by university faculty, library research and model systems such as bacteria, yeast, Euglena, C. elegans and Dictyostelium, to help the students choose and explore topic areas that interest them.

Marine Biology Summer Whale Camp: A marine science camp that offers as many direct face­to­face encounters to closely observe and study whales, dolphins, porpoises, seals and puffins in their own natural habitat. Board a 65­foot sailboat for unmatched examinations of marine life. Help collect data to document whale distribution, feeding and behavioral patterns. Gain hands­on experience using onboard marine biology equipment. Unveil the powerful and endangered processes of life in the sea. Explore beaches, coastal trails and fishing villages.
