James Yoshizawa Drum and Percussion Lessons
I teach a wide variety of drums and percussion instruments: - Drumset (all styles: jazz, rock, Latin, etc) - Concert percussion (snare drum, timpani, xylophone, etc) - Rudimental snare drum - Mallet percussion (marimba, vibraphone, etc) - Celtic Percussion (Bodhran, bones) - "Latin" Percussion (congas, bongos, timbales, pandeiro, etc)
With over a decade of teaching experience, I've taught at internationally recognized marching and concert high school percussion programs all over Los Angeles and Orange County, and I have taught workshops, clinics, and masterclasses all around the country. My private studio has included students ranging from 4-year-old beginners to adult professionals.

I have been performing professionally since age 12 and have 15 years of private and ensemble teaching experience. I hold a B.M. in Percussion Performance and regularly perform in many different musical genres. One noteworthy engagement is a run in the Fall of 2016 as the percussionist and bodhran soloist in the Broadway musical, "Come From Away.
"I also teach through a non-profit called Musical Miracles, which provides music instruction to economically disadvantaged youth in the greater Los Angeles area. In May 2019, I was invited to compete in the All-Ireland bones playing championships in Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick, Ireland and came in 2nd place.
