Hi , My 11 year daughter plays basketball for our school team. She was in Bay City last year but due to the advanced skill level in Bay City she didn't have the confidence to be major contributor. I was looking for something that pushes her a bit more so she just doesn't pass the ball when she gets it. How do you work with shy kids? Does everyone get the same playing time? How big are the scrimmage teams? (Basketball Skills Training)

Hi Bob! Thank you for reaching out about our Skills Training sessions at Holy Names School! Our Middle School Prep program offers a strong emphasis on skill development with experienced and trained coaches to get your player ready for the upcoming season. We aim to provide each player the opportunity to experience a high number of repetitions in various aspects of the game of basketball. Whether that is shooting, ball handling, passing, defense, or footwork, our highly trained staff will lead players through fun, multiple repetition drills and competitions. We believe that the best way to learn is to —see, hear, and do. This is fast paced environment where improving individual skill is fun! Since these session focus more on individual skill work, there are not official games played. They will have some scrimmage (player(s) vs player(s)) time to review and implement teaching points of the day but no official 5 vs 5 games. The skills they learn will help with their overall confidence when they start playing on their school teams. To your specific questions, our coaches are great with engaging players and finding how to work with them regardless of if they are shy or not! We respect players as individuals and will make sure they thrive. No game time so everyone will have the same time working their individual skill work. Coaches will be able to tailor to different skill levels allowing all players from beginners to advanced to build on their existing skills. Overall, these sessions are smaller to provide an intimate learning environment for all types of players! -

Is the camp at Ralston Middle School indoors or outdoors or both? (Legarza Basketball Summer Camp)
asked on Mar 24, 2021
Mar 25, 2021 - Legarza Sports
At this time, we do not have any outdoor-only basketball camps scheduled. If we are allowed to, we plan to hold basketball camps both indoors and outdoors this summer as we have in years past. We are also planning to be able to host only outdoor camps should the state/county require us to do so. We’ve been reserving locations that would accommodate the option to run outdoor camps if need be. If you are looking for an outdoor only option, our All Sports Camps are typically outdoors for the majority of the day whereas basketball camps will be going in and out of the gym and outdoor spaces. -

Hi Cathy, Thank you for your interest! We accept any level of experience. The class spans kids from Kindergarten to 8th grade. Since these are smaller groups, Coaches provide different levels of challenges per skill level. It is run similar to our Summer Camps so it makes for a fun week! -
On the Volleyball girls camp (1-4pm) it says "FREE extended care starts at 7:45AM and ends at 5:30PM" but when I went to book it, I only had the option from 12:30-5:30, which doesn't work for us as we work full time. If there is a morning camp in the same location, would that be too much sports for one day for an 8 yo girl? (Legarza All-Sports Summer Camp)

Mar 23, 2020 - Legarza Sports
Thank you for your interest in our Volleyball camp! We have three options camps: AM camp is 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM, PM camp 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM and All Day Camp from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. The Free extended care for AM camp is from 7:45 AM - 12:30 PM, PM Camp is 12:30 PM to 5:30 PM and All Day Camp is 7:45 AM - 5:30 PM. If you are not seeing the All Day Camp option, please feel free to give us a call at 415-334-3333 and we will be happy to help you complete registration. As for your question regarding being too much for an 8 year old, I would say it is up to the individual child however we do incorporate breaks, team meetings and other fun activities to "break up" the day so they are not playing volleyball 100% of the time so they do have fun and engaging downtime where they can rest. Please let us know if we can help with any other questions you may have. We will be happy to help! -
