Both my children have attended Lekha Camps in the past. My daughter loved it and made sure she attended every year. My son attended last year for the first time. He wants to go back there and finish working on his book. My daughter will attend the high school workshop this time.I am glad that they have a location closer to my house this year.

My kids learned limited writing skills from the center. It does not have high profiled writing teacher / coach to educate kids writing. The hours of the day camp was long, and many kids work hard on writing, created good envirment. Hope later they can have qualified employee to assist the program. Boring ideas are not be able to inspire kids to write.

Lekha Writing Center has been guiding students since 2006. We are known for our signature technique of guiding students to write without prompts.. We do not give students ideas. Instead, we teach them ways to come up with ideas. With over 10,000 children published in anthologies and magazines we have been able to bring the joy of writing to our children. Many of our students come year after year and are now attending prestigious universities and return to guide our new students. Yet, it is true that our program is not made for everyone. Just like any other program, we are not the perfect fit for every child. It is important to try out different programs to make sure that they fit your child. The best time to try a program is during a camp. Our trained instructors look forward to working with your children.

One word - "Irresponsible". The Milpitas center is a dark, dingy and untidy place to begin with. Dust every where and no proper place to relax or play for the kids. We were invited by a dirty floor rug for the kids to relax and play. I felt horrible dropping my kids off at this location but had no choice as the week began and I did not have time to go back and look for other options. The teachers were OK and tried to do their best.
Comes Friday evening to pick-up the kids, they drop a surprise on me that the camp for next week is cancelled due to lack of participants. Like, they did not know about not having enough participants, till 4.00pm Friday the week before. Now, they very well know, that I will not have time to look for other options for the following week and I was presented with an option of driving 20 miles to drop off my kids to a different location or get a refund. I tried calling their office to request a refund. No answer. I send an email and after 3 days received a reply saying that I will be updated when a refund is issued. Nothing happens for 2 weeks. On multiple enquiries finally responds that the refund will be issued. Again no action (3 weeks go by). I had to take up with my credit card company to get a refund.
!!! Have some respect for others time and convenience as well !!!!

All the three negative reviews that we received after the summer of 2016 were for our Millpitas location. This Milpitas center had problems in the year 2016, which we had not accounted for. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that was caused. We had camps in that location since 2014 and had never encountered problems but the summer of 2016 was different. We have since stopped conducting camps in that location. We added camps at the Indian Community Center after this and they have had very good reviews. As of 2019 we have added another location in Milpitas - The San Jose Community Center, Milpitas Extension. The rooms are standard classrooms with good lighting and Janitorial service. The teachers are also different and well trained. We expect that your children will enjoy our Milpitas center just as they do at all our other centers.
