Our Animal Club is a fun and educational social club for young learners who love animals! This week's focus animal is the Australia Bearded Dragon. These scaly lizards have found their way into many homes as a family pet. But they are so much more!
-During our meeting we will start off by taking an in-depth look at these animals, discussing its common characteristics making it a reptile, habitat, diet (yes, we will be feeding them), and adaptations.
-We will visit with baby Bearded Dragons that have recently hatched here at our zoo and discuss how the tiny lizard got out of their egg. I have a video I will share of a Bearded Dragon laying eggs.
-Next, the learners will have some time to discuss what they learned that was new with each other.
-Show and Tell time- If anyone has a Bearded Dragon as a pet or anything lizard related they would like to share with the group, this is the time!
-Lastly, we will color a color page I will provide prior to class, while the learners talk and ask questions about Bearded Dragon things they might be wondering about and will vote to see what next week's animal will be.
For the past 13 years, I have personally taken care of many Bearded Dragons that have come to our zoo as rescues or born here. Please rest assured that during this class we will not be promoting Bearded Dragons as pets. If your learners ask questions about having one as a pet my answer will always promote the responsibility of taking care of another life.
