This 2-day make-and-take camp focuses on developing soldering and electronics skills as students build a functioning digital clock. On the first day, students will learn how to use soldering equipment safely and proper soldering techniques assemble a simple LED toy. Students will also be introduced to basic electronics concepts and how to use them in projects, such as switches in serial/parallel, amps, volts, watts, diodes, resistors, capacitors, etc. The second day expands these principles and integrates them into the second project: an electronic clock. Students will learn how to place components on PC boards, power supply routing, and even some laser cutting to manufacture the clock body. Starting with some electrical components, wire, acrylic, and solder, students will leave with a complete digital clock and foundational soldering skills to support their future STEAM learning.
Sign up for both days, or just one! Participants for the second day of camp should have some prior experience with electronics and soldering.
