Overview

Student-Teacher Ratio 6:1

In this class, you will learn all the skills to make your own crystal-clear polyhedral dice from start to finish, and create a set of 2-part molds to continue casting on your own.

You Will Learn

  • Types of RTV silicone and resin, and their use

  • Proper use and handling of RTV silicone and resin

  • How to make and use a 2-part silicone cap mold

  • How to create molds and casts under pressure for crystal-clear final results

  • How to use a vibratory tumbler to polish resin to a glassy shine

You Will Leave With

  • Molds for 7 RPG dice - D4,D6, D8, D10, D12, D20, and Percentile

  • A finished D20 die.

Because of the long curing time of both silicone and resin, this workshop is offered over the course of three (3) consecutive days.  By enrolling, you are committing to attend all three sessions of this workshop.  The third and final session will only be an hour to do finishing work on the dice and complete the molds you'll take home.

This workshop will certify you to use the pressure pot and compressor independently at Maker Nexus.

This class has a minimum enrollment of 3 students, and is subject to day-of postponement and rescheduling if the minimum enrollment threshold is not reached.

The class was very good. I feel with a bit more organization with how to stack activities you could complete a whole set of 7 dice. Also, was slightly disappointed that the final class was cut an hour early so instructor could teach the vinyl cutting class. Also, we used a pressure pot in class but were not given the make or model. We were told there was another unit- never saw it, it was disparaged the whole time. Slightly disappointed that I cannot produce dice on my own yet due to the issue of ac querying a pressure pot.

Yes! We will schedule additional sessions of this class and expect we will run it about once per month unless there is higher demand for it. -
How will Covid concerns be handled? Will there be social distancing in the form of reduced classes and mandatory masks?

We are following all of the County guidelines to keep everyone as safe as possible. We will be enforcing social distancing, as well as requiring masks at all times indoors. We've set up additional work space dedicated to students to give them more room to socially distance. We've limited camp enrollments as well, and will only be offering a single camp each week (typically we have 2-3 camps in various subjects running concurrently). The health and safety of our students and staff is our #1 concern, and we especially want to make sure students have a safe experience here. -

Thank you for your interest,We are working hard on getting the classes online. We have a schedule, but still need to finalize the write ups and photos. Target is to have all set by end of this coming week: There will be a mix of camps from Textiles, robotics, electronics, woodworking and laser/3d printing for a variety of ages. The week of July 4th will be day camps with a different theme each day - those are posted for sign ups already. -
