Overview
In your private Zoom lessons, we will break down what it is YOU want to learn musically and work through the steps together. Whether it's beginner-level piano playing or arranging and reharmonization, we'll deep dive into what it takes to be an aspirational musician.
Music lessons can include learning the following topics:
- Learning piano at varying skill levels, such as basic playing, advanced techniques, extended techniques, improvisation, performance, and more
- Learning different genres of piano music, such as classical, pop, jazz, and more
- Learning composition with individualized focuses, such as basic songwriting, lead sheets, classical forms, and other genres
- Learning core music theory and its applications in piano playing and composition, arranging, songwriting, and orchestration
- Studying music ranging from pop to film, solo to orchestral
Music lessons are conducted over Zoom; piano students are required to have a basic keyboard and composition students are recommended to have a basic keyboard.

My kids (9 y.o. and 6 y.o.) love learning piano with Marc and they actually enjoy the piano lessons. The piano lessons are all done via Zoom and he provides the lesson material as well as a list of piano books to purchase. He is flexible with the lesson times. Marc asks that the camera is directed onto the keyboard so he can see how the kids are playing the keys. Both my kids did not have formal piano instruction prior to lessons with Marc and are now able to read notes and play the keys. After each lesson, the kids are given weekly homework to practice. Marc is patient and a wonderful, effective teacher. We highly recommend Marc.

Marc is not only a child prodigy and a talented composer but also a great teacher. He is very patient and keeps the student interest up. My daughter loves to work with Marc, learning new piano pieces as well as musics theory. The homework assigned was just right, not too much nor too little. He is always encouraging and makes learning fun 🤩

Best music, piano and composition class I can ever find for my kids! I have been taking time to look for a piano teacher for my 7-year old who can tailor the class for my son’s own music interest and can teach him thorough music theory in addition to playing piano. I am so lucky to find teacher Marc Yu. Teacher Marc Yu is professional and patient, and his class is fun and organized. My son has grown his piano skill and music knowledge so rapidly since joining Marc Yu Music class. He is expecting this music class every week as he enjoys a lot with teacher Marc. Now my 7-year old has also started learning composition with this class. It’s Marc Yu Music class that allows my son to pursue his music dream from here. Now I have my younger son also join Marc Yu Music class. It’s convincing to me that Marc Yu can tailor his class to any age and let his student learn the most out of the class while having fun. Thank you, Marc Yu!
