Our Free Trial Class

This is a trial class version of the actual class. This is to give you, the parents an understand of how the class is going to be structured, and actually done.  If you child enjoy the class, please consider joining the actually class starting next week.  We  will contact you with more information about the actual class starting next week when you sign up for the trial class. 

Dimension Math Overview:

View the Dimensions Math® PK-5 series overview (PDF). Dimensions Math is designed to better serve U.S. students. The series follows the principles outlined in the Singapore mathematics framework, including the Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract (CPA) approach, mental math strategies, and bar modeling.

In the Dimensions Math program, concepts are introduced and explained in a new format with vibrant imagery, while the progression and scope that define Singapore math remain intact.

Beast Academy Overview:

For a full curriculum, see here. Beast Academy teaches kids how to think critically and understand the concepts behind the math calculations they’re performing. It uses engaging, comic-book style illustrations to keep kids coming back for more, even as they grapple with some of the most rigorous math problems available anywhere.  Beast Academy shows young learners what it’s like to enjoy math and understand it on a deeper level by letting them approach mathematical concepts the way that mathematicians do. 

Math Kangaroo Overview:

Math Kangaroo is an international mathematics competition in over 77 countries. There are six levels of participation, ranging from grade 1 to grade 12. It is the largest competition for school students in the world, with over 6 million participants from 77 countries in 2019.

Class Overview:

For an overview of the curriculum, see here. This course is designed to be a math enrichment class for the third grade. It seeks to teach students math fundamentals while at the same time fostering a critical logic thinking of math. It aims to build solid math ability and creative thinking skills, and try to correlate math concepts and theory to ability to solve real life issues.

Through the uses of Singapore math Dimension math, Beast Academy, as well as Math Kangaroo, this course helps students form a strong foundation for math challenges beyond what they learn in their home school. In addition, the course also promotes self-confidence, creativity, reflection, critical thinking, and a keen awareness of solving problems.

Class Details:

• ​Students have access to Google Drive. A shared folder will have weekly classwork, and homework.  

• We use Class Dojo to track the progress of all our students.

• There are 30-60 min. of homework per week

• Group Size: 4-8. 

About Math Trek: 

Math Trek started as a program with the purpose of helping students do better in competitive math competitions such as Math Kangaroo, and Noetic. We started with the belief that to challenge students slowly, and gradually is the best way to make them into more critical thinkers.   Over time, we have also expanded our offerings to include Singapore Math( Specifically dimension math), coding(Python, Scratch), and high level math classes in combinatorics, number theory, graph theory, Math Proof, etc.
