This group class is for teens who want to be part of an artistic community as we each develop our drawing and painting skills and hone our own, unique artistic vision. Though the focus of the class will be on representational art work done from observation, three-dimensional projects are also an option.
We will begin each day with a group meeting on Zoom. I will present ideas for possible projects, and each artist is welcome to share their project ideas, too. Then we will have time for independent work, which artists can choose to do on off line or on line, with as much or as little feedback as they would like. We will all gather again at the end for a virtual critique, so we can see and appreciate each other’s work.
This group is designed to harness the synergy that is created when artists work together: we each get to go on our own voyage of discovery, and the treasures we bring back will inspire and strengthen each other. Though art-making can be a solitary activity, it is also part of the all-encompassing group project of human connection. This ongoing project of the human spirit is especially important at a time when we are all experiencing physical isolation.
This art group will be a wonderful chance for each of us to experience our significance and belonging, and then to pass this experience along to others.
