Monte Vista Speech and Debate Institute
Monte Vista Speech & Debate Junior Institute--for students entering grades 4-6.
PUBLIC SPEAKING: Students will participate in a variety of different exercises, activities, and improvisational games designed to develop confidence, self-esteem, and poise as a speaker. Students will learn methods of organization and other language techniques through the preparation of a variety of short speeches either informative or persuasive in nature.
HUMOROUS, DRAMATIC, OR DUO INTERPRETATION: Students will participate in a variety of different exercises, activities, and improvisational games designed to develop confidence, self-esteem, and poise as a speaker. Students will learn interpretive techniques of voice and gesture through the memorization and presentation of a 3-5-minute selection from a piece of humorous or dramatic literature appropriate to their age. Students may present their selection individually or with a partner.
