Our Staff

Mr. D (Founder & Creative Director)

Stephen Duffy (a.k.a. Mr. D) is the founder and creative force behind Mr. D’s Music Club. He discovered his love for music early—at age 7—and was certain stardom would arrive by 9. While life had other plans, it ultimately led him to something more meaningful: sharing the joy of music with kids.

An accomplished singer/songwriter, Mr. D is also a dedicated educator and mentor. He inspires students to create an eclectic “playlist” in life through music, dance, acting, and more. As a guide to both kids and Teaching Artists, he lives by one important mantra: Make.It.FUN!

Hailey Magsig (Director of Operations)

Hailey has supported Mr. D’s Music Club behind the scenes since its launch in 2011. During the pandemic, she stepped into a leadership role to help the program adapt and thrive through major changes. With a background in the child activity industry, tech, and operations, Hailey helped stabilize the organization during a time of transformation.

Today, she leads the business side of Mr. D’s Music Club and is excited to guide the staff, programs, and community into its next chapter.

Teaching Artists

We hire professional artists who bring deep expertise, enthusiasm, and a love of working with kids. They’re well-versed in helping beginners and curious learners take creative risks and gain confidence in a joyful, supportive environment.

With patience, humor, and high energy, our Teaching Artists encourage kids to explore singing, dancing, acting, and art on their own terms. Every artist brings their unique style to the program, but one thing stays the same: we always keep things fun!

Honors & Awards

Mr. D’s Music Club has been honored with multiple “Best of the Bay” and “Best of the East Bay” awards over the past 14 years—including recognition for Music, Dance, Art, Summer Camp, and our After-School Program. We’re proud to be consistently recognized for the creativity, fun, and joy we bring to kids and families.

We love Mr. D’s so much! We have tried many camps and this is my daughter’s favorite. They are so welcoming, enthusiastic, genuine and fun. Stephen and Hailey are wonderful—responsive and kind and thoughtful about everything. The young folks that work alongside them are engaged and work very well with the kids too. I can’t say enough good things.

As a Grandmother, I was invited to see the final performance for the parents at Mr. D's Music Camp. I was so impressed with the children of all ages with not only their exuberance but the joy in their eyes as they acted, sang, and danced. This program changes children's lives.

These reviews look like they are for camps. I feel that with school starting online my kiddo is missing his weekly drama club. Would this be a good replacement? (Acting Through Imagination (4th-6th Grade)) -

Hello. We do record the classes for quality assurance and security reasons. Screen shots or quick video clips may be shared with the families of the children who attend a class in private and secure communications with those families only. During registration parents always have the opportunity to opt-in or opt-out of images of their child being used in public facing marketing or promotional materials. -
