Equestrian Vaulting (Noun. vault-ing): The art and sport of gymnastics and dance moves on the back of, and in concert with, a walking, trotting or cantering horse.
If you love horses, gymnastics, dance, and FUN, you’ll love equestrian vaulting!
Garrod Farms is home to the nation’s oldest continuously running vaulting program, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2020. Innovator and family matriarch Jane Garrod field-tested the new equestrian sport in the San Francisco Bay Area in the late 1960s. Today the program, and our 501(c)(3) non-profit Mt. Eden Vaulting Club, continues to be generously sponsored by and housed at the 120-acre picturesque Garrod Farms, a family-owned ranch (founded in 1893) with deep roots in pre-Silicon Valley agriculture.
Home to our amazing, gentle vaulting horses, experienced and caring coaches and lungers, and a wide spectrum of vaulters (from four-year-old, first-time-on-a-walking-horse Tiny Tots to World Championship Equestrian Vaulting Gold Medalists), we focus on a concept called Double-Goal Coaching (through the non-profit Positive Coaching Alliance), which places front and center two complementary objectives for all our programs: pursuing the more important goal of teaching life lessons through vaulting, as well as winning (when vaulting at the competitive levels).
Girls and boys, ages four to adult, never-been-on-a-horse tiny tots to world champions, we invite you all to learn about the safest equestrian sport and come Vault On! with us.
