Overview

Welcome to German for Beginners: Singing and Speaking!

In this fun and musical class, learners explore German greetings, keywords, introduction vocabulary and pronunciation - through music! Learning a language is fun and easy with Ms. Kelsey - let's sing, dance and color!

Perfect for young learners who love music and coloring!

This class is lots of fun - and full of music! We sing 5-8 songs during each class, learn a set of key vocabulary words and phrases, have SHOW AND TELL, and color fun pictures.

We begin each class with our Welcome Song and introductions. Students are invited to dance and sing and use their musical instruments! We practice easy songs to introduce the topic of the day, and then sing the German ABC's. We review spelling (as a class), play fun games, use catchy rhymes, and explore a different topic each day (listed below). The students practice speaking with the teacher and with each other, and explore vocabulary and sentence structure with gentle pronunciation correction. A list of vocabulary words is provided for review after class, and adults are encouraged to assist and participate.

Day 1: Greetings
Day 2: Colors
Day 3: Body Parts
Day 4: Animals
Day 5: Locations
Day 6: Vegetables
Day 7: Fruits
Day 8: Likes/Dislikes

We then have Show and Tell! Each student is welcome to bring their favorite toy to share with their friends and classmates. Students learn how to describe and discuss their toys in German, sharing why they like them and what they like to do with them. Each student is asked the question of the day,  We then sing and dance with our Show and Tell toys to our Show and Tell Song! Make sure to have space to dance and move around!

It's then time to color! Students are provided with two coloring pages before each class (you are also welcome to use blank paper or coloring pages of your choice if preferred, or printing is not an option), which we color for the last few minutes to wrap up our topic of the day - while listening to a typical children's German song! Students are then invited to share their beautiful pictures while singing our Goodbye Song with our musical instruments, and doing our Goodbye Clap! Learning a language is fun and exciting with Ms. Kelsey's German for Beginners - Singing and Speaking. Come join the musical Deutsch fun!

I thought it was a very good presentation. I liked that there was a number of video clips so you could break it up if you couldn't go through it all at one time.
