A fun, one-afternoon workshop where singers and actors (kids and teens of all skill levels) work on training and fine-tuning their singing voices, and learn the keys to great song acting and performance! An excellent opportunity to learn valuable tools for auditions and performances. Each student has mini private sessions with a voice teacher (Wendy Waller), a song acting/performance coach (Pierce Brandt), and a professional accompanist. The workshop is limited to only 5 students, so each student receives significant one-on-one learning. The afternoon finishes with a fun, interactive group session and casual recital/performance.
Students will work with a knowledgeable, experienced, supportive team – Wendy Waller, an accomplished professional singer, recording artist, and voice teacher; and Pierce Peter Brandt, an award-winning, professional Broadway ("Les Miserables") actor/singer, accomplished teaching artist, and faculty member of San Francisco's acclaimed American Conservatory Theater (Young Conservatory).

I have been taking group voice building classes at ACT for several years. I started taking private lessons with Pierce to get coaching on a few songs that I would audition. Pierce has many warm-up exercises and exercises designed to increase voice range and quality. He teaches how to get the right resonance and sound from your voice by showing how to direct one's voice. You'll learn proper techniques to use your voice safely.
Pierce is very positive and encouraging which helped greatly with my performance confidence. I had huge performance anxiety and it mostly went away after working with Pierce. He will challenge you to improve but sessions are fun and positive.
I did some research before choosing Pierce. Pierce is one of the best if not the best in the Bay Area. My voice teacher at ACT was super excited that I was working with him.
Pierce is also know for coaching the story telling part of songs which is critical for musical auditions.
Pierce is incredible! I learn each time I'm with him. I highly recommend him for someone really looking to improve their skills, you will have a great time with him and learn valuable lessons for a lifetime, go see him!
I met Peter for the first through a Performance Singing Workshop I took of his in Berkeley. The process he taught to really get inside and behind a song was very useful and added more dimension to every participant's performances of their songs. It was neat to see my and my fellow singer/classmates' performances evolve over the weeks we worked together. I especially loved that Peter provided a space to experience ourselves in new ways - a must for performers, I believe! He is a real professional and coach: positive, encouraging, and constructive.
