Overview

WE PICK THE CHALLENGE.
KIDS DESIGN AND BUILD THE SOLUTION.

At Project Ember, we build big. We teach kids how to safely use professional power tools, announce a surprise design challenge, and unleash our imaginations in our design sessions. Then we build it, test it, improve it, play with it, ride on it, and show it off. Though every week is unique, one thing is guaranteed: kids will always be able to get in, climb on or operate creations of their very own design.

Where do I begin. We have known Josh and Katie for four years now and I simply cannot imagine our children’s lives without them. They have a genuine passion for engaging and empowering our youth with the freedom to explore, fail, and dream. They have also built an AMAZING team of collaborators who my kids (and myself) have naturally taken to.

This camp is much more than building and working with power tools, they teach kids to work together, plan, and what to do when plans don’t work out they way they may have thought! I simply love Project Ember and owe so much to them for creating a better future for my kids.

It’s a really an awesome camp. There's nothing like it. My child did the day camp one summer and last summer and this summer the overnight camp. The kids design and build these massive structures, which encourages them to dream AND actualize their crazy creative ideas. They learn to work hard despite experiencing failure. And working with power tools also make the kids very responsible and confident makers. My child has attended many camps in the Bay Area and this is the real deal. I almost want to keep it a secret but Josh and Katie and the entire Project Ember team deserve all their kudos.

I thought a 7 year old would be too young to fully appreciate the challenges and I was so wrong! She really blossomed and took full advantage of a creative process with the student teamwork and support from counselors to let them build. I was impressed that woodworking and power tools paid off with such a wide range of skill levels going in.
