Shaunte Caraballo
Varsity/JV Team Lead/Interp Lead

Coach Shaunté R. Caraballo is an energetic teacher and speech and debate coach with more than 16 years of effective solo teaching experience in Speech and Theatre for multiple age levels. She is an Assistant Professor at CSU Dominguez Hills in the department of Theatre, Speech and Dance where she teaches in all three disciplines. She is the speech coordinator and the director of the Speech and Debate Team. Ms. Caraballo holds two NCCFI national titles, two state championships, as a coach, her team won first place in the President’s III division at the National Forensics Association national championship. Her team won 3rd place at IFA, first place at Phi Rho Pi, as well as many other state and National awards. She has a BA in Communication Arts from California Baptist University and Master of Fine Art in Acting from CSU Long Beach. She has been a working actor and performer for over 30 years. She is a hula dancer with Na Meakanu O Laka O Hawaii, a spoken-word artist, and creates solo and devised theatrical work. She is happiest traveling, volunteering, paddle boarding, and visiting Disneyland. She is an Army brat who has lived many places, but is happy to have recently returned to her hometown of Long Beach where she lives with her partner Craig, her bonus daughter Samantha, and her fur-baby Misty.


Asha Taylor
Speech & Debate 6-12 Lead Coach
Coach Asha found her passion and began competing in forensics in high school but began to hone her skills while competing on Irvine Valley College speech and debate team. It was through communication courses and completing at IVC that she decided to double major in communication studies and psychology. Asha was on the Irvine Valley College speech and debate team for two years and gained golds in cultural artifact, impromptu, persuasion, parliamentary debate and IPDA debate at the senior level of competition. She was also selected to compete on the state and national teams for both years she was on the team and in 2017 she received an award at state championship for top debate speaker for the state of CA. Along with her motivation to continue her education in communication; Asha has also found a passion for teaching communication skills such as debate, interpretation and platform events. She is focused on watching her students grow as competitors and excellent public speakers.


Anna Shcherbak
Little Orator (K-5) Lead Coach
Coach Anna has a Degree in Business Management and is currently a member of the Toastmasters International Organization. She holds multiple awards for the best speaker and evaluator. In addition, she is a certified corporate trainer, and has experience educating multiple age groups, including a Youth Leadership and Communication Program for kids and formal trainings for adults. But most importantly, she is a mother of two and knows first hand the importance of teaching children the necessary communication skills for them to become successful leaders.
