Raspberry Pi Electronics and Python

Overview

Raspberry Pi is one of the hottest IoT platforms and is widely used for prototyping.

This camp is an introduction to the Raspberry Pi platform and the use cases.  The Raspberry Pi is the best tool to learn electronics, Linux based operating systems, and programming languages. Your child will learn how to control many electronic devices and get information from sensors with Raspberry Pi and Python programs. Your child will understand how computers control devices such as cars and airplanes, and they will use that knowledge to build their IoT projects and develop robots. Your child will also master how to use a breadboard for prototyping electronic circuits.

This camp focuses on Raspberry Pi and electronics but also covers the fundamentals of Python programming to control GPIO.

What students learn

• How to set up and use Raspberry Pi and Raspbian OS

• How to use a breadboard to connect devices and sensors with Raspberry Pi

• How to control the connected devices and read information from the sensors by controlling GPIO with Python programs

• Photoresistor, Thermometer, Ultrasonic ranging sensor, Hygrothermograph

After this camp

Your child will be able to set up a Raspberry Pi and write simple Python programs to control devices and receive sensor data. Your child will also understand how to handle delicate electronic components and set up electronic circuits with a breadboard. They will become ready for their own IoT projects or robot development.
