About
Science Camps of America

Registration for summer overnight Science Camp opens January 1st.

Registration for summer day camp opens on Earth Day - April 22nd.

Registration for Hawaiʻi Gap is now open.

Science Camps of America's mission is to immerse young people in hands-on science education in an informal education setting, and to bring these opportunities to as many young adults as possible. Our students see science come to life as they experience geology, oceanography, ecology, climate science, space exploration, engineering, and astronomy up close and personal. Active volcanoes, coral reefs, and black sand beaches are our classrooms, and we set aside time each day for creative activities including drawing, photography, and music.

Founded in 2012
Our Staff

Program staff are all carefully selected for their counseling skills as well as their science, environmental, and education background to help ensure the best possible experience for our participants. All staff are screened and subject to annual national, state and county background checks.

This was an amazing experience I would do it all over again. Everyone is so nice and welcoming. I am a very introverted person but the people were easy to get along with. I did appreciate the cellphone policy because I got to appreciate everything with my own eyes.

I did not attend the camp but am the father of a camper. From the outset I knew this camp was different. Mike was always responsive and provided any information or updates needed. Our daughter loved the camp and will carry these memories forever. I also appreciate and respect the NO cellphone policy. Young people are walking around in a daze, missing life happening right in front of them. Mike, keep up the good work and Aloha to you and yours.

Questions & Answers
I’m very interested in sending my son to the space camp, however I am searching for what is all included in the price of the overnight camp. Can you please direct me to that information? For example: is food, supplies for the campouts all inclusive? What necessities should my teen bring with him that is required for the week? When purchasing flight tickets, which airport should he fly into? Is there a shuttle to collect them from the airport? Should I send money with my teen? (Air & Space Camp) -

Hi Ilene, Thank you so much for your interest in our Air & Space Camp for your son. I will be happy to answer your questions. 1. The registration fee includes lodging, food, transportation to and from the Hilo airport, transportation for all field trips, entry fees, and all supplies and materials for the activities. 2. Here is a link to the packing list for camp: https://sciencecampsamerica.com/pdf/SCA_SummerCampPackingList.pdf 3. Please arrange flights to arrive and depart from the Hilo airport. 4. Yes, one of our staff will meet your son at the baggage claim area and drive him to the camp, along with other campers arriving at the same time. 5. For spending money for things like extra snacks, souvenirs, or gifts, a few weeks before camp starts we will ask you to fund your son's "spending account" so that you do not have to send him to camp with cash. Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions. If you would like to meet with me, you can schedule a phone call or Zoom meeting using this link: https://calendly.com/scicamp/director Thanks again for your interest - we appreciate it very much! Aloha and thank you for your interest in Science Camp! Yes, of course, they can attend - we have had campers from Japan before. You do not need a visa, but you do need to provide the vaccination record and proof of health insurance as part of the forms that need to be completed before camp begins. Thank you! -
