Science Explorers Summer Camp

Seashore Academy has provided families quality and flexible education for almost 10 years! Seashore Academy is dedicated to serving families throughout the year in different settings.

This year, Seashore Academy is creating a unique camp setting for TK-8th grade levels, that will include various themes each week with set intentions each day!

Our camps emphasize a blend of experimental learning, quality science education and joyous experiences. Our set intentions are introduced in a fun learning environment which will foster intellectual curiosity.

Campers will spend time outside having the opportunity for fresh air, socialization, and fun physical activity!

Summer Camp Themes for 2021

Astronomy: Calling ALL future Astronomers! This is the camp for children who love astronomy and want to spend time learning more about this fascinating subject with others who share their passion. Children will gain knowledge in emergent project experiences, all while having fun!

Animal Planet: If your child loves animals, then they will love this camp! Animal lovers will have the chance to learn about mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. Children will get a closer look at the animals that inhabit our world through art, science, and activities.

Dinosaur: Is your child fascinated by dinosaurs? This camp transforms your child into a nature detective and sparks curiosity by unlocking the mysteries of all types of dinosaurs! They will unravel fun educational facts and fictions this week and learn about the diverse group of reptiles of the clade Dinosauria.

Insects & Bugs: We all have those children who are fascinated with sand, dirt, mud and overall getting messy with nature! This camp dives deep into the soil and excavates nature with hands-on experiences. Children will pursue the truth and explore how the world works!

Gardening/Nature: Watch your child transform into a steward of the Earth as they experience hand-on nature activities. This camp sparks creativity, imagination, and taps into their creative genius with guided curriculum and help from our great outdoors! The natural world offers artistic sparks as they draw, design, and paint their interpretations through masterpieces. This week’s camp will illustrate the children’s artwork on the final day of camp this week.

Rocks/Minerals: This session is all about Earth Science! Children will learn about volcanoes, weather, earthquakes, and the inner workings of Planet Earth! We intend to foster their intellectual curiosity this week by hands-on projects involving rocks, dirt, and water.

Ocean/Beach: Did you know that the deepest known area of the Earth’s oceans is known as the Mariana Trench? It’s deepest point measures 11km. That’s a long dive down! This week is full of fun ocean facts that children will learn and get to do fun arts and crafts!

Shark Week: Fun fact, Shark Week originally premiered on July 17, 1988. We will be honoring this fun educational, tradition by learning all about the diverse species of sharks. Our camp teachers are devoted to teaching conservation efforts and correcting misconceptions about sharks with valuable science experiences.

Then and Now: This week’s theme is exceptionally important for children to experience. We will be teaching the difference between transportation, technology, electricity, communication, and so much more. It is unbelievably valuable for children to know what happened then, and the difference it makes for our society NOW. Appreciating what we have is KEY!

Around the World: Teaching children about world cultures helps them appreciate the differences in people and their traditions. Putting the textbook aside and enjoying learning at camp is what makes this week’s theme so special! Each day we will learn about a unique culture and teach it appropriately with fun activities. Let us travel around the globe together without ever needing a suitcase.

Europe/America: Origin of name. Europe is named after a princess in Greek mythology called "Europa." This week children will experience arts and crafts, science, and historical facts about Europe/America! We intend on instilling knowledge in a fun and creative way this week. It is undeniably crucial for children to know more and more diversity around them. So allow us to instill that knowledge during this weeks camp!

Myths & Legends: This week is remarkably interesting. Let us put our imagination caps on and dive into exploring myths, legends, lore, and cultures from around the world. Each day campers will use their imaginations as we “travel” around the world and learn how different cultures envisioned different tales!

Lego Superstars: Who does not love Legos? Children have a strong urge to build and create with all different materials, this week we will have fun exploring engineering techniques by using scientific principles with designing large Lego structures. This week we will display the creations on the last day of camp! We will also be accepting Lego donations.

Superheroes: Kids LOVE superheroes! What is not to love? Superheroes underlying message instills strength, smarts, superpowers, and the ability to conquer obstacle courses in the blink of an eye! This week we will celebrate a fantastic summer with the most fun theme yet! Children will be able to dress up in their favorite superhero costumes! At the end of the week, we will display final posters that the children created. We will also incorporate “What I want to be when I grow up” displays.
