Tech Rocks!

I was able to sign up for this camp last minute when our schedule changed. It was a great option for our Minecraft-loving daughter. They also brushed up her typing skills and basic coding. I also appreciated they were flexible when I had to pick her up a few minutes late. If you’re ok with it being entirely online and limited outside time, would recommend it.

Our son really enjoyed learning about coding and making Minecraft mods. He wasn't too keen on the typing part, but I'm glad to hear that they practiced typing every day and were evaluated, since it's an important skill to develop.

The class gave our son hours and hours of valuable hands-on coding experience. He didn't want to learn coding before this class; now, he can't get enough of it!

I'm sure this camp is right for the right target group, however, make sure you're the one!
Our experience (San Mateo location):
- they don't take the kids out to any parks for fresh air
- if your kids enjoy socializing with real people while doing tech, this is more focused on 'tech on your own with headphones'
- it's not really guidance on how to grow and develop skills, so if your kid hasn't been brought up with screens (conscious choice of ours) it might not be the most valuable time spent
Our 8-year-old liked the teachers, and there were plenty of different things to do on the computers, however not very compelling unless you're really into it.

We have done both day camps and a birthday party at Tech Rocks and my son has loved all of it! Basically, he BEGS to go! The birthday party in SF was run so smoothly, it really was a joy for me and my husband! My son is still talking about it as one of his best birthdays ever! The staff was great with a bunch of opinionated and perhaps overly-excited 7 and 8 year old kids :)

My son couldn’t wait to get to his coding camp every morning. He was upset there was a holiday and he couldn’t go because it was closed. He made new friends and learned how to type and code which helped build confidence and skills. I liked that Tech Rocks texts me to notify my son checks in and out every day he attends. I appreciated how one of the teachers also texted me to ask if my son had permission to play a game that was rated a bit more mature for him but is very popular. All in all I’m happy that my son had a great learning experience that was fun and educational.

We would recommend this camp if you’re looking for the technology and computer skills for your kid! For the very first time my son has joined the technology camp so it was his introduction for typing, coding and this camp creates a fun way for the kids to learn also a lot of fun games especially Minecraft . The kids can create their own games as well.

Each day at lunch time , the kids get a nice break time to get out to the park nearby and get fresh air for outdoor playing.

My son and his friend loved their program. He especially liked that the instructors help them individually throughout the day. He loved it so much he felt totally comfortable when I enrolled him again without his friend. I especially love that they charge you use aftercare.

My son loved his spring break at Tech Rocks!. Can you ever get enough Minecraft? Apparently not. Us parents appreciated that the class included practical training like typing drills. We will come back for another class.

My two 8 year old girls loved it and could not wait to go every day. I liked that they were exposed to coding and typing and that they progressed them appropriately.

My son said: "The teachers were really fun. Minecraft was super cool. The coding was fun and easy." My son was excited to get to camp every day.

My daughter wanted a mine craft party and so we booked her birthday party at Tech Rocks - the staff was great catering to all her classmates who were at different levels of the game and all of them had a great time. Decor and lab had a nice touch to the party. She can't wait to go back again!

My son had his 10th birthday party at their new San Mateo location and had a blast celebrating with his friends. Alvin was very accommodating with all my questions. I too had fun finding and creating themed items for the party. If your child loves Minecraft, they must have their party here!

Tech Rocks is my kids' favorite after school activity. They're learning and having fun too. Alvin is a flexible, fair and a great instructor.

Highly recommended. My 12-yr-old had a great time. She wrote code, made and played games and Alvin is terrific with kids.

My son absolutely loves the Minecraft Open Play evenings offered by TechRocks! He loves playing with other kids who love Minecraft as much as he does. I feel very comfortable dropping him off for a few hours and always know he will have a great time. Alvin and his staff are really great with the kids.

Finn (7.5) says: it was really fun! I learned to type and how to code my own little game. Can I go back??

My son loved the Tech Rocks camp. He got to apply real computer skills to his favorite video game, Mincraft, and gained an understanding for computer technogy that he had never been exposed to before. He wants to continue with weekly classes during the school year because he enjoyed it so much. I would highly recommend Tech Rocks! to any parent looking for a positive experience for their child in this area of expertise.

This review is for a one week summer class and my son loved it. He has very little experience with computers so this was a perfect introduction as it sounds like they did a little bit of everything from typing to coding to gameplay (minecraft of course!). He also said he had fun outside playing basketball with the other kids - so it was nice to know he went outside to run around everyday. We will definitely be back.

Both of my sons, ages 7 & 8, loved their week of camp at Tech Rocks. The camp combines learning with fun in a very creative way. The staff at Tech Rocks are great; super flexible and friendly. I would recommend this camp 100%, as would my children who are already asking when they can go back!

My daughter loved this camp! She came home ever day excited by what they did and what she learned....all while having fun. She loves Minecraft, so that was a big part of it. I liked that they walked to the park for snack and lunch and took a break from the screen time. Convenient location too.

Alvin is so nice and friendly to me. I love the programs he has. He make mine craft so fun with all his mods. He always answers my questions, and with answers I can understand too.;)

I liked that my son learned some new things about Minecraft such as how to ride giant spiders. Basically, he had a great time playing the games and discussing it with friends. He also liked that he was able to morph into other animals and go on many adventures of which his favorite was Funland.

I HIGHLY recommend Tech Rocks!!! Signed up my son, 8 years old, for the full-day Spring break camp. He loved it and didn't want to leave the place at night! He already requested to go there again during summer. Teacher Alvin is awesome. He made the kids entertained and engaged full day for 5 days - not easy. In the camp, kids learnt Internet safety, typing and basic coding. My son had a blast!

Such a great camp! My son loved every day and woke up early excited to go back. He got to practice a lot of skills and his typing improved a lot too. He really couldn't talk more about how much fun he had. Great experience for kids who want to get into coding.

I really enjoyed going to the tech rocks camp this week! Even though I am new at helping out control little kids and keep them focus it was a great experience for me! Everyday we did something new and I discovered multiple things such as how to create my very own 3D game. I would totally recommend this camp to my friends who enjoy playing around with technology! My son generally doesn't enjoy camps, but he really loved this one.
This suited him well because he enjoys video games and the social atmosphere of the kids helping each other.
I liked it because he learned skills that I wouldn't normally try to have him learn, i.e typing and coding.

TechRocks is a good introduction to coding, typing and minecraft. My daughter had fun with the camp ~ thank you!

My son is 11 and he grew up on numerous camps during summer, winter, and spring. This was his most favorite camp so far. He not only had a fabulous time but learned a ton of new things related to programming. Excellent teacher, excellent group of children, and excellent structure of the week of learning. We will definitely be back!!!!

Tech Rocks! is the perfect place to have a minecraft party. To be honest I really didn't know what minecraft was however Teacher Alvin did a great job keeping the kids focus and entertained. I would definitely return and recommend Tech Rocks! Minecraft parties to everyone.
