Overview

Learn the fundamentals of computer science and robotics by programming virtual LEGO EV3 robots to complete missions in colorful 3d worlds.  The missions involve coding the robot's motors, sensors and timers, while using commands, variables, conditional logic, loops and more.  The coding is done with Blockly, a code-block based system similar to Scratch.  This allows students to program virtual Lego Mindstorms EV3 robots and see how they respond to their environment.

The camp is very interactive, including teacher-led discussion to create the code for each mission as well as a number of team/class coding challenges.

Plus - we will also use our skills to program virtual Amazon-warehouse robots each day so students see how their skills apply to real-world robotics!

Topics covered through fun virtual robot missions -

  • Drive systems and how to navigate your robot using computer code
  • Autonomous navigation with a Touch sensor
  • Object detection with the Ultrasonic sensor
  • Color detection - coding the robot to detect colors on the floor to make better decisions
  • Object manipulation - Control the robot’s arm to interact with objects in the scene and solve complex challenges
  • Real-time decision making - Using multiple sensors so your robot can make informed decisions in real time
  • Efficient coding with loops

Our son had the best time! He was a little nervous when we dropped him off the first day but was so excited when we picked him up and looked forward to each day of the camp.

My son loved it, but it seems to be more loosely organized than I was expecting.

My 6yo had a great time at this camp. Would definitely consider doing it again.
