Overview

Open to Beginner, Intermediate, & Advanced students!

At San Jose Chess Academy Summer Camps, your students will retain the chess information they acquired during the year and add to it with daily lessons and reviews, as well as plenty of playtime!  

Chess Camp is open to K-12 Students of all skill levels, from absolute beginner through intermediate. Advanced lessons are taught daily to ensure everyone is learning something new!  Our United States Chess Federation-certified coaches, with decades of successful instruction, lead lessons. Structured practice follows on regulation tournament chess sets, all materials being supplied by our super-star staff.  

Each week, our students at Summer Camp enjoy a chess tournament with trophies for the top 5 finishers and other cool chess prizes for all, as well as a pizza party to celebrate their new chess knowledge and the end of another successful week of Camp!

I am happy with the chess club but removed one star because I would love to see a progress report on my child play evolvement. I also am unsure of how the end-of-series tournament is held. He came home with a trophy and am not sure at what level he competed or how he won.

If you could start this update report to parents at the end of the series, we would appreciate it!

Cara really enjoyed the chess class. But one day cried because she needed to beat a fifth /fourth grade player. I think dividing kids to the same level will be more effective for them. Thank you !

We are glad Cara enjoyed the class. We do divide students by chess skill level and never by age or grade. We follow the United States Chess Federation guidelines, and our students tend to be the most successful chess players in the entire state of California year after year! When students begin to compete in outside competition they'll be partnered and paired up just as we do in class.
