About
The Crow

The Method. Meisner. Stella Adler. There are a ton of acting techniques to learn, but actors are people, people are individuals, and everyone should have their unique, individual approach to the art of acting. The Crow incorporates multiple acting techniques to enhance scene study, help build deep characters, work on audition readiness and cold reading for TV, film, and theatrical stages in order to identify and nurture the individual strengths of its students to allow them to reach their potential as artists seeking to share, and ultimately influence, the human experience.

Four our young comedians, The Crow offers them the opportunity to find their personal comedic voice and point of view! This course helps them write their own material and learn the concepts of building a story, premise, and punch line all while building confidence in public speaking and communication. We work on stage presence, finding courage to keep going when the going gets rough, thinking on your feet, and finding the funny! This 8 week course meets once a week for 3 hours, culminating in a public stand-up/storytelling show at The Crow’s main stage.

Our Staff

With over seventeen years of experience teaching acting to young performers, Mickey Blaine has developed a system for young actors that teaches the tenets of serious acting in a relatable and engaging format. In addition to his work in film and television, Mickey has worked with children and teenagers in school and camp settings, so he knows how to make learning fun while giving the tools they need to succeed in the professional world of acting.

As a professional stand-up comedian, Nicole Blaine can be seen in her own special, Life's a Bit (but don't let your kids watch), on Amazon Prime, or on E's That Morning Show or NBC's Today Show. She's also traveled across America as a stand-up comedian and as a professional hosting industry panels to help educate her fellow comedians. Additionally, Nicole has trained a ton of "regular people" to perform as stand-ups in her hit show, Virgin Sacrifice, where first timers had to perform after professional comics like Howie Mandel, Damon Wayans and Pete Holmes. Add to that Nicole's degree in teaching and her years as a teacher and camp counselor, and you have the perfect person to teach stand-up to kids and teens.

Together, Mickey and Nicole created and ran The Crow Comedy Camp where kids learned stand-up, sketch and improv for a week, then performed for their family and friends on The Crow's main stage. Before that. they produced and directed the stand-up special, Burning the Light, for HBO and several other live comedy shows, web series, and independent films.

Both Mickey and Nicole take annual background checks, and they're fully insured.
