About
The Shul of New York
The Shul of New York, a synagogue for spiritual Judaism, is a unique congregation with a liberal Reform ideology. Our congregants come from all walks of life, all areas of New York City and beyond. We are young and old, married and single, gay and straight, wealthy and of modest means, Jewish and non-Jewish. Our non-traditional approach is embodied in everything we do.

For example:
We do not have a building, but meet in historic New York City locations.
We do not charge fixed dues, but ask that people who wish to affiliate make a donation that they can feel good about.
We believe in the value of volunteerism, and conduct much Shul business through voluntary work by members of our Board of Directors, Auxiliary Committee and congregants.
We run a distinctive religious school, The Shul School, for children from Pre-K to Bar/Bat Mitzvah age that meets just once a week.
We do not require affiliation with the Shul in order to attend the Shul School.
We are welcoming to children who have begun their religious studies late and who wish to have a meaningful Bar or Bat Mitzvah.
We offer educational programs for adults, including inspiring Adult Bar/Bat Mitzvah study.
We have great Family Programs that incorporate fun, spirituality and an opportunity for community.
We embrace diversity of all kinds and welcome interfaith couples and families.
