Uncommonly Awesome Learning Lab is a nonprofit learning center offering STEAM classes, personalized tutoring, and a project-based microschool for kids age 8 to 14. We specialize in working with kids who are neurodivergent, gifted, and twice exceptional learners.
Our strengths-based, personalized model inspires kids and teens to learn and grow while creating art, conducting experiments, and researching their questions about the world.
Our new location in Mountain View provides an exciting space to learn through exploration and play.
Kristin Rourke, Director
Kristin has been working in education with neurdivergent students and students who learn differently for nearly ten years. She was a special educator in Maryland public schools and California private schools, before starting her own tutoring company in 2020. She earned her MS in Education from Johns Hopkins University in 2015. Kristin also has a BFA and MA in Architectural History, and her favorite architectural style is Elizabethan Tudor (check out Hardwick Hall, it's fantastic!). When she's not teaching, Kristin is either writing novels, playing video games, traveling with her partner, or taking too many photos of her cats.
