About
Vesper School of Music

At Vesper School of Music, we offer students of all ages personalized one-on-one virtual instruction in piano, violin, guitar, voice, ukulele, music composition and more. We have flexible scheduling for all our students - simply choose a weekly day and time that works for you, and we will pair you with one of our professional music teachers!

Vesper's teachers use a modern, creative, and structured approach to learning music developed by Vesper's founder, pianist Becca Schultz. We personalize our online instruction for each student based on their learning style, interests and musical goals.

Our younger beginning students can expect to learn a wide range of folk songs, children's songs and popular music that your family will enjoy hearing at home. We also welcome adult learners of any age and background. Our teaching philosophy features a positive, engaging approach that fosters each student's unique talents and creativity.

Students learn to sightread music, improvise, compose, and train their ear while using healthy technique based on modern research. This leads to holistic and well-crafted music lessons for students of all ages, all from the comfort of your own home.

Our Staff

Lisa Adams has been a teacher and musician in the Portland and Vancouver area since 2010. Her work in school music programs and private studios over the last decade has helped her develop a wide range of methods and skills that she shares with students, teaching violin, voice and piano.

David Mixer enjoys teaching violin and piano more than anything else. In 2017 David returned to Portland after spending two years teaching English and music at a private kindergarten in South Korea. He feels strongly that music enhances quality of life, and endeavors to inspire musical creativity and artistry in his students. Using his background in composition, he has helped students learn a range of music, from traditional classical repertoire to Taylor Swift and Geometry Dash.

Naomi Midori is a pianist, vocalist, and composer. She started her musical training with the piano at the age of 4, and later took lessons in violin and classical voice. She has participated in orchestras and choirs for many years and studied music at Fullerton College and Portland State University before transitioning to teaching. She received her Bachelor of Arts from PSU in 2019. Naomi loves to share the joy of music and is passionate about guiding her students in reaching their unique potential. She enjoys teaching young students as well as adults.

Holly Winchell loves to incorporate varying styles of literature into her lessons. Holly works with students of all ages to set achievable goals that make singing and playing piano a life giving addition to their lives. Students of Holly’s, with minimal previous experience, have gone on to be able to sing, accompany themselves on the piano while doing so, and acquire the skills needed to begin writing their own compositions in as little as a few months. From teaching young students the joy (and discipline) of learning piano, to re-invigorating adults in their pursuit of creativity, Holly genuinely loves building relationships with her students and giving them a renewed sense of identity and vitality through music.

Nathan Trueb has taught a variety of lessons including guitar, bass, ukulele, songwriting, voice, jazz, blues and everything in between for over 15 years. With a mix of improvisation and theory, lessons are always exciting and geared toward each student individually, leaving them with a solid base of knowledge and a yearning for more.
