  • Create useful and fun apps, including games
  • Students will learn important computational & coding skills while having fun!

Project breakdown - All projects are independent Mobile Applications:

Project #1: Greet the user: This is the 1st mobile app in the series (of many). Please follow the instructions in the video. Stop and start the video as many times as required. The video covers the instructions to build, design and test the app. In this app, you learn to design and build an app that allows you to greet the user.

Project #2: Joke and Riddle: This is the 2nd project in the series. In this project we create a riddle and joke project, where the app displays a button for riddle and joke and when the user clicks on this button, the app says a riddle/joke. Learners can follow the design or enhance the one shown in the video based on their liking. They will learn to add images, buttons and text-to-speech functionality in a mobile app.

Project #3 : Slide Show: This is the 3rd project in the series. In this project we create a slideshow of favorite topic of our choice . We demonstrate the creation of multiple screens and navigation capabilities of Ruiz Lopez famous chess openings. Students are welcome to pick the topic, like their favorite video games, characters or sports.

Project #4: Magic 8 Ball: This mobile app is a cool simulation of a magic 8 ball. One can ask any question and when you shake the phone the ball responds with a random answer from a configured number of answers.

Project #5: Juke box: Nothing beats building an app that plays your favorite songs. The user can play their favorite songs by using this jukebox mobile app.

Project #6 Doodle: In this project the user creates their own doodle app. They can choose the colors from the pallet and set the thickness to their liking using sliders.

Project #7 Image Recognition: This app allows the user to take a pictures and it uses artificial intelligence image recognition component to give the description of the picture. This is a great use of artificial intelligence in mobile applications.

Our son absolutely loved Wize Academy. We did the 3D printing class, despite having had no experience with TinkerCAD or any other kind of design tool. For 3 (and more, had we let him) hours per day, he was absolutely enthralled. Cole, the teacher for this segment, was the perfect combination of inspirational, directive and kind. Highly recommend this course to other parents, even if your little one hasn't done anything with 3D design before.
