Zenki Dojo is Los Feliz’s premier martial arts and physical training center. Here savvy locals come to sweat and train in our exclusive environment with some of LA’s leading instructors. Founder and Sensei, Tim Santos, sets the gym’s precedent through his commitment to full-body health coupled with his experience in a mélange of martial arts techniques (most notably a 5th-degree black belt in Kenpo Jitsu Ryu). Since 1997 Sensei and his team of profoundly qualified instructors craft high-intensity and engaging workouts in a variety of group classes and private training sessions. Our small class sizes and seasoned trainers provide a safe domain for students of all levels to find their inner ninja.
Kenpo-Jitsu Ryu (Kids and Adults)
Learn how to defend yourself against a street fighter. Kenpo, a martial art combining Karate, Kung Fu and Jiu-Jitsu, offers practical self-defense techniques designed for both street attacks and trained attacks. Class starts with a plyometric fitness warm up before applying drills and techniques. Discipline your mind, body, and spirit to focus on self-improvement both training in this practice and throughout your life. Rental Gis are available upon request.
Sensei Tim Santos
Tim Santos has been in martial arts since he was 6 years old. He has the most well versed and well-rounded experience in the arts. He’s trained in classical arts such as white crane Kung Fu, Shotokan karate, judo, wing Chun, Filipino Arts, kendo to name a few. He’s had several Muay Thai fights as well. He’s earned his highest rank of go dan, 5th level black belt in Kenpo and traditional jujitsu. For almost 10 years, he’s been training very closely with Rodrigo and Royce Gracie and has been in the instructor program spreading the art of Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to people of all levels.
Along with martial arts, Tim Santos is also a high level certified personal trainer. Certified in several Personal Fitness programs, he is also a CrossFit trainer and one of the few Russian Kettlebell Certified trainers in the area. He’s also a yoga practitioner and plans to get his yoga certification to further his knowledge in the human movement. He’s an avid “bulletproof” and Paleo foodie and is very well educated in nutrition.
