This class is taught in 12 weekly Tuesday sessions, beginning on September 16 and ending December 9 (skipping the week of Thanksgiving).

Have you ever dreamed of making a great movie? Midpen is the perfect place to start or continue your filmmaking journey!

Over our 12-week after school program, students will learn specific skills necessary to make their own movie, including writing, directing, lighting, cinematography, editing, and more! Our talented instructor, an award-winning filmmaker, will work with students’ specific needs and interests each week through engaging exercises, fun challenges, and informative lessons. Going more in-depth than our summer or spring break camps, these sessions are designed for the passionate student who is looking to grow their skills in the art of movie-making. No experience, however, is necessary. Students are not required to bring in their own projects to discuss for feedback, but they are encouraged to do so, if they have them!

This program is designed to be on-going, akin to music lessons or language lessons. Students can join at any time (with a prorated price at $60 per session), but we do require a commitment for the remainder of the course.

If you like to draw and dream of making your creations come to life, this class is for you! Join us for an exciting journey into the world of digital animation using the software Procreate.

This class is taught in TWELVE weekly after school sessions, beginning on September 17 from 5-8 PM and occurring weekly on Wednesdays from 5-8 PM until December 16 2025.

Applying to college can already be a daunting task, and that’s without needing to make a fully developed short film! Our instructors and the staff at Midpen Media Center are here to help you through the process!

Our College Prep program is designed for teens and young adults who have some experience making films and need guidance on the process of tackling a larger independent project, whether you’re wanting to build your portfolio or specifically make a film for your college application. Our instructors, filmmakers themselves, can help you through the entire process, from ideation, screenwriting, storyboarding, casting, shooting, editing, and promotion.

Each class, students will be given tasks to complete on their own time that they will then share with the cohort and receive personalized feedback and assistance in refining their work. Our instructor will also invite real filmmakers and other industry professionals into the class to give lectures and answer questions on specific topics, facilitating a well-rounded educational program as well as giving students valuable networking opportunities in the industry!
